even more stuff
wow, thank you so incredibly much for all the comments about my cardi! i am trying to reply to you all invididually but i'm not completely there yet, so please be patient with me. talk about a boost for my self esteem; a record number of blog comments and lots of positive feedback from the "real people" in my life. can you feel it? i'm giving you all a huge hug.
i have managed to finish up the other nasty knit on my wip list; the pom socks for jacqueline. i know, everyone is making these now, and everyone is waxing lyrical about the pattern and how easy it is and how they don't have to look at the chart etc etc. what is wrong with you people! do you all have superpowers that you are hiding from me?
i have never had to rip back so many times on a sock ever. or any other pattern. ever. when i thought i'd memorised the pattern, ten rounds later it turned out i had messed up and had to tink back. when i paid attention to the pattern, i still managed to forget a yo here and a k2tog there a ridiculous amount of times. the k2togs were easy to fix, the yos not so much when i didn't realise my mistakes until half a repeat further along.
on the first sock i knit both the heel, gusset, and toe twice.
thus, after lots of hard work, i am proud to present a finished pair of socks:

i hope jacqueline will give us a modelled picture at some point!
specs
pattern: pomatomus from knitty
yarn: cherry tree hill supersock in river run
needles: 2.75mm dpns for cuff and leg, 2.5mm dpns for heel and foot
as you can see, the variegation is brilliant on the leg, but started pooling immediately with the reduced stitch count and needle size on the foot. say it with me now: oh well.
i still think they are beautiful. i want to make a pair for myself, but i have to take an ever so small break from this pattern, until i forget about all the tinking and just remember the good times we had, just me and the k tbl...
in the mean time, i will be dreaming about making one of these hopelessly impractical, so not my style, yet incredibly beautiful
