summer is here

i managed to squeeze in one last fo in may:

specs
pattern: women's lace gloves no. 626
yarn: marianne isager tvinni (100% merino), shade 22, about 30g
needles: 2mm dpns

i have tried to hurry with these gloves as i really needed them over the last few weeks - with temperatures in the single digits and lots of rain i have not packed away my winter stuff yet. of course, tomorrow the forecast is for warmish, sunny weather. oh well, june does not have a good reputation around here so i'm sure i'll get a chance to wear wool on my hands once more before winter - particularly if i want to take my knitting outdoors:

(although looking at that pic i should maybe focus on getting some sun on those hands instead.) the picture is a little blurry, as action shots often are!, but you can still see the beautiful yarnover increases at the thumb gusset and the practical ribbing on the inside of the wrist. pretty, pretty gloves! if they didn't have ten ends each to weave in i would make hundreds of them.

the yarn was a little scratchy, so i was surprised to see it is merino. i gave it a soak in shampoo and conditioner, and it softened a little, while retaining that scandinavian rusticity (yeah!) i so appreciate in this yarn. the best thing, however, is that the gloves now fit as well as if they were my own (bright yellow, a little bit scratchy, and beautifully patterned) skin.
