before i go

you know, if i'm ever going to show you my finished tailored jacket it will have to be tonight. it's been finished for over a month, but my laziness combined with dark, rainy weather, over-eager seam-steaming, and a smidgen of disappointment in the end result meant i never got any pictures.

however, in an unexpected rush of achievement i rigged the tripod, donned the jacket, and took a whole bunch of pictures all by myself.

specs
pattern: tailored jacket, the cover design from debbie bliss' cashmerino dk book (size 36in)
yarn: debbie bliss cashmerino dk, shade 19, 12 balls
needles: 4.5mm and 3.75mm

excuse the strange lumps and bumps and white reflections, all caused by the shirt i'm wearing underneath. i didn't notice until i got the pictures onto the computer, and being the lazy person that i am, after all, i can't be arsed to change my clothes and reshoot.

so. what do we think of this project, then? the yarn is divine, of course; soft soft soft and the cashmerino range has been one of my faves for garments since i finished my ribby phildar cardi last year.

the design is lovely - the textured stitch pattern, the buttoned sleeve cuffs, the epaulettes ...

... which tend to fall a bit too far back during wear, making me pull on the front of the cardi every five seconds.

if my laziness ever goes away i may consider moving them a tad further to the front.

the other thing that bugs me is the fact that the sleeve caps are too big. to fix them is just too big of an operation to be feasible for me, so i'll need to find a way to accept their hugeness. observe:

anyway, it's finished and it feels lovely to wear even if doesn't look as smashing as i'd hoped. i have to mention that i've lost a few kilos since i started knitting this, which also explains why the fit is a bit off. i won't complain about that, though.

now for my holiday! see you next month!
