pooling? now this is pooling.

i know some of you don't like this, so please, close your eyes and go to your happy place.

specs
pattern: shobhana's rock opera gloves
yarn: lorna's laces shepherd sport in vera
needles: 2.75 and 3.25mm dpns
mods: i wanted really long gloves, so i knit lengthwise to the biggest size and widthwise to the smallest, as i have skinny, weak, muscle-free arms.

i knit these specifically to wear with my red summer coat, which has quite wide sleeves, so that i could get a bit more wear out of it this autumn. it worked like a charm - i actually finished these about a month ago and have worn them lots.

now, however, it's all winter parka all the time, and fingerless gloves are only good for indoor use. sigh. i started a vest, though.

it's a long time favourite, bloom from rowan 36. the felted tweed (colourway whisper) has been in my stash for years. i only have three balls, which is what the pattern calls for in my size, but it seems everyone has used more yarn.

thus, i am trying to trick the pattern. i skipped a few of the short-rows in the shoulder shaping, as it seems lots of people find the cap sleeves too floppy anyway, and after casting off the back piece, i weighed it: 76 grams. yarn remaining: 74 grams. gah.

now i am scheming big time. i ripped the castoff, and continued straight onto the front piece (where the stitch marker is in the picture). voilá - castoff yarn saved, caston yarn saved, seaming yarn saved. now i am making the neck opening a bit deeper on the front piece, just three stitches, but i hope it will be enough all in all.

oh, and i'm speed-knitting. it will work, right?
